The exhibition It's Hard to Forget a Name Like That takes its starting point from the artist book VENICE by Merav Shinn Ben-Alon. This book, which is a hybrid between an art catalog and a graphic novel, narrates the story of a young woman, an art student, who was sexually assaulted at the Venice Biennale.
The exhibition features works spanning twenty years and, in the act of reclaiming, includes never-exhibited works from 2008, 2009, and 2015. It focuses on themes like body, sexuality, vulnerability, and feminism. These pieces reflect the artist's journey of processing trauma, influenced by societal shifts like the Me Too movement.
Shinn Ben-Alon uses her art to confront power dynamics in the Western art world and reveal the truth about trauma.
