Merav Shinn Ben-Alon is an artist and writer whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, site-specific installations, writing, and artist books. Since 1990, her work has critically explored themes of identity, gender, and trauma, using storytelling to address silenced social narratives.

She holds a BA in Art (with distinction) from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and an MA (with distinction) from the Interdisciplinary Program in the Arts at Tel Aviv University. She also studied at the New York Studio School. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at leading institutions, including the Mishkan Museum of Art in Ein Harod, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Petach Tikva Museum of Art, and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

Over the past decade, Shinn Ben-Alon has published three artist books that have received significant recognition: dBook (2015), Five Legs (2020), and VENICE (2023). These works combine visual art with narrative storytelling, establishing her as a leading voice in the genre of artist books.

Her books were acquired by major libraries, including those at Harvard, Duke, Columbia, Stanford, Hebrew Union College, and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Her artistic practice has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Artis Residency Support Grant for residency at The Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. Prize to Encourage Creativity from Israel's Ministry of Culture, support grants for book publications from The Israel Lottery Council for Culture and Arts, and exhibition support grants from the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts and the Culture Division of Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.

She has participated in international residencies, including the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, the Mark Rothko Art Center in Latvia, KuBa:kulturbahnhof in Germany.

Her recent projects include a solo show at the Zarastro online Art Platform and The Jewish Hospital, a site-specific installation exploring memory, identity, and the legacy of modernism. In 2025, she will present a site-specific solo exhibition in Wrocław, Poland.
